Weekend forecast: Showers possible in eastern and southern areas, with slight seas.
Dubai: Parts of the UAE may experience afternoon showers today as convective clouds are expected to form over eastern and southern regions, while hot conditions continue across much of the country.
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) said the weather will remain fair to partly cloudy, with a possibility of rainfall later in the day. Light to moderate south-easterly to north-easterly winds are expected to strengthen at times, reaching speeds of up to 40km/h and causing blowing dust in open areas.
Temperatures are forecast to climb to 47°C in Liwa, with Al Ain and Sharjah reaching around 46°C. Abu Dhabi and Dubai are expected to record highs of approximately 45°C.
Humidity levels will remain high along coastal areas overnight, reaching up to 85 per cent in Abu Musa and Greater Tunb, while inland regions are expected to experience noticeably drier conditions.
The unsettled weather pattern is expected to ease over the weekend. On Saturday, conditions will remain fair to partly cloudy, with afternoon cloud formation likely to be limited to eastern and southern areas.
Winds will shift gradually from south-easterly to north-westerly, ranging between 10 and 20km/h and reaching gusts of up to 30km/h. Sea conditions will remain slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.
A similar weather pattern is expected on Sunday, with afternoon convective cloud development possible once again over eastern and southern parts of the UAE.
Winds are forecast to remain light to moderate, shifting north-westerly later in the day, while sea conditions will continue to be slight.
By Monday, the chance of convective cloud formation is expected to rise over eastern and southern regions, with the possibility of isolated afternoon rainfall.
South-easterly to north-easterly winds may strengthen at times, reaching speeds of up to 40km/h and creating blowing dust in some areas. Seas are expected to remain slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.
