UAE Consulate Alerts Citizens to Heavy Rain and Flooding in West Texas

Date:

UAE citizens in the US urged to stay alert as heavy rain and flash floods hit western Texas.

Abu Dhabi: The UAE Consulate in Houston has advised Emirati citizens in the United States to remain vigilant amid forecasts of heavy rainfall and flooding in parts of western Texas.

The consulate urged nationals to follow safety guidance issued by local authorities. It also advised UAE citizens to contact 0097180044444 or 0097180024 in case of an emergency and register through the Tawajudi service.

The advisory comes after heavy rain affected parts of western Texas, prompting the US National Weather Service to issue flash flood warnings on Friday for Midland and Ector counties.

Forecasters recorded rainfall of between one and 1.5 inches in the affected areas, with flash flooding already reported at some locations.

The National Weather Service also highlighted the risk of flooding across broader parts of western Texas, particularly near rivers, creeks and streams, as well as on low-lying roads and in areas with inadequate drainage.

A flood watch issued for Friday warned that heavy showers and thunderstorms could produce one to three inches of rainfall, with higher amounts possible in isolated locations.
