Dubai: The UAE’s planned high-speed rail service is expected to reshape travel between Dubai and Abu Dhabi, cutting the journey between the country’s two major economic centres to around 30 minutes.
The high-speed service will form part of the wider Etihad Rail network but will operate separately from the UAE’s national passenger rail service. The dedicated route is being developed as a fully electrified high-speed network, designed to provide faster and more efficient connections between the emirates.
Dubai high-speed rail route and stations
Dubai is expected to have four stations connected to the wider Etihad Rail network, with two planned to serve the high-speed rail link between Dubai and Abu Dhabi, according to a recent Gulf News report.
The high-speed service is expected to include two stations in Dubai — one at Al Maktoum International Airport and another in Al Jaddaf — providing key connections for passengers travelling between the two emirates.
The RTA’s Dubai Rail Network Map for 2032 indicates that the high-speed rail route will largely follow Al Khail Road, running parallel to the Dubai Metro Red Line.

The planned high-speed rail service between Abu Dhabi and Dubai is expected to reduce travel time between the two cities to around 30 minutes. Trains are set to reach speeds of up to 350km/h, making the UAE network one of the fastest rail systems in the region.
