Thunderstorm risk across several regions prompts Civil Defence caution.
Dubai: Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defence has advised residents to remain vigilant as heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected across several parts of the Kingdom through Saturday, increasing the possibility of flash flooding.
The General Directorate of Civil Defence urged the public to stay in safe locations, keep away from valleys and flood-prone areas, and avoid entering or swimming in floodwaters. Residents were also advised to closely follow official safety updates and instructions shared by authorities through traditional and social media channels.
The Mecca region is forecast to experience moderate to heavy rainfall, with conditions potentially leading to flash floods. Thunderstorms may also bring hail and strong downdrafts, which could lift dust and sand and reduce visibility in some areas.
Areas likely to be affected include Mecca, Al Kamil, Al Jumum, Bahrah, Al Lith, Al Qunfudhah, Taif, Maysan, Adham and Al Ardiyat.
Moderate to heavy rainfall is also expected across Medina, Jazan, Asir and Al Baha, where thunderstorms may trigger flash flooding and bring hail and strong winds capable of blowing dust and sand.
Meanwhile, Najran is forecast to experience lighter conditions, with light to moderate rainfall expected across parts of the region.
The Civil Defence has advised residents and visitors in affected areas to remain vigilant throughout the period, follow official updates and comply with all safety instructions issued by the authorities.
