UAE forecast: Mercury set to hit 46°C with humid conditions bringing fog risk

Date:

Humid conditions expected in some coastal and inland regions, says NCM.

Dubai: Temperatures are forecast to climb as high as 46°C in parts of the UAE on Wednesday, while rising humidity could lead to fog or mist forming overnight and into Thursday morning, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).

Conditions are expected to remain generally fair, although clouds may develop over eastern parts of the country. Humidity levels are forecast to increase overnight and early Thursday across some coastal and inland areas, creating conditions favourable for fog or mist formation.

Temperatures across the UAE’s inland areas are expected to range from 25°C to 46°C, while coastal regions and islands will see readings between 27°C and 43°C. In mountainous areas, temperatures are forecast to remain cooler, ranging from 23°C to 35°C.

Humidity levels are also expected to remain high, particularly along coastal areas and islands, where relative humidity could climb to as much as 95 per cent, increasing the possibility of fog or mist formation.

Winds are expected to remain light to moderate, generally ranging from 10 to 20 kph and occasionally strengthening to around 30 kph. Sea conditions are forecast to stay slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.

Similar weather is expected to continue through the weekend. Thursday will be generally fair, becoming partly cloudy over eastern areas, while increased humidity could lead to fog or mist overnight and into Friday morning.

Low clouds are also expected to develop along the east coast on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with otherwise broadly stable conditions forecast across the country.

According to the NCM, the UAE’s weather will be influenced by a surface low-pressure system extending from the east and a high-pressure system from the west, along with an upper-level high-pressure system.
