Al Mamzar to host Dubai T100 Triathlon weekend for the first time

Date:

Dubai will host the penultimate stop of the nine-race T100 Race to Qatar.

Al Mamzar will host the 2026 Dubai T100 Triathlon from November 13-15, the Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO), Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism, and Dubai Sports Council have announced.

The event will serve as the penultimate stop on the nine-race T100 Race to Qatar.

After two editions at Meydan Racecourse, the triathlon is moving to the coast, with Al Mamzar’s beaches and parkland providing a new setting and showcasing a different side of Dubai.

The bike course will pass through Al Hamriya Port and Dubai Islands before crossing the Infinity Bridge. Athletes will then ride past Port Rashid and the Queen Elizabeth 2, with the Dubai Frame and Burj Khalifa visible in the distance, before heading back towards Al Mamzar.

The run course will feature the shaded paths of Al Mamzar Park and its newly opened corniche footpath.

The new course will put Dubai’s skyline, coastline and landmarks in the global spotlight, reaching T100 Triathlon World Tour audiences across more than 195 territories. The event will be broadcast through the Professional Triathletes Organisation’s partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery, alongside international, regional and local broadcasters, including beIN Sports across the Middle East.

Dubai Fitness Challenge

The Dubai T100 Triathlon weekend will once again be part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge, the citywide 30×30 initiative encouraging residents and visitors of all ages and abilities to complete 30 minutes of physical activity for 30 consecutive days. This year’s challenge will run from October 31 to November 29.

Launched in 2017 by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence of the UAE and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, the Dubai Fitness Challenge has grown into one of the world’s largest community fitness initiatives. The T100 weekend, combining elite racing with participation events open to the public, remains a key part of the programme.

The Dubai Fitness Challenge will mark its 10th edition in 2026, continuing its mission to encourage people across the city to lead more active lifestyles and develop healthy habits that extend beyond the 30-day challenge.

World’s best female triathletes to race in Dubai

Dubai will host some of the world’s leading female triathletes this year following changes to the competition format. Male and female professionals will compete across four individual T100 race weekends before coming together for the Qatar T100 Triathlon World Championship Final from December 10-12.

Each athlete’s best three T100 race results, along with their performance in the championship final, will count towards the overall T100 World Championship titles.

For the first time, the Dubai T100 amateur programme will feature relay options for both the T100 and Sprint-distance triathlons, alongside a new Olympic-distance event covering a 1.5km swim, 40km bike ride and 10km run.

The expanded programme is designed to encourage participation among athletes of different abilities. The Olympic distance has been part of the Games since triathlon made its Olympic debut in Sydney in 2000 and will be rebranded as ‘T50’ next year, reflecting the combined 50km swim, bike and run distances and aligning it with the T100 brand.

Alongside the Sprint and full 100km T100 distances, the Olympic distance offers an option for athletes moving up from the Sprint, those aiming for a personal best over the sport’s benchmark distance, or competitors preparing for the T100 challenge.

PTO CEO Sam Renouf said the move to Al Mamzar Beach would provide a single venue for the event, covering the T100, Olympic-distance and relay races, following the area’s redevelopment.

He said the new closed-road course would offer varied views of Dubai, taking cyclists past Port Rashid and the QE2, across the Infinity Bridge and towards the city centre and Burj Khalifa, before turning at the Dubai Frame.

Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), part of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), said the move to Al Mamzar marked a new chapter for the event and would give athletes, spectators and global audiences the chance to experience another part of Dubai.

He said the new course would highlight the city’s coastline, landmarks and outdoor attractions while reinforcing Dubai’s position as a leading destination for major sporting events and active experiences. As part of the 10th edition of the Dubai Fitness Challenge, the event will also encourage residents and visitors of all ages and abilities to participate in sport and adopt healthier lifestyles.

Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of Dubai Sports Council, said Dubai was pleased to host the T100 Triathlon World Tour for a third consecutive year.

He said the Dubai T100 Triathlon weekend had quickly become an important fixture on the city’s sporting calendar, bringing together the world’s leading triathletes as part of a global series that also visits iconic destinations including Singapore, San Francisco and London. The event also promotes mass participation, attracting amateur triathletes of all ages and abilities from the UAE and around the world.

Bader Anwahi, CEO of the Public Facilities Agency at Dubai Municipality, said hosting the Dubai T100 Triathlon Weekend at Al Mamzar aligned with the authority’s vision of developing public facilities and waterfront destinations as integrated spaces that enhance quality of life and offer world-class experiences for residents and visitors.

He said the event would make use of Al Mamzar’s coastal setting, parkland and public spaces to bring together international sport, community participation and an active lifestyle.

“The move to Al Mamzar also demonstrates how the continued development of Dubai’s public spaces can create new opportunities for major international events and strengthen the connection between people and the city,” Anwahi said. “We look forward to welcoming athletes and spectators to a destination that showcases a different side of Dubai and reflects our commitment to creating attractive, accessible and vibrant public spaces.”

Registration details for all amateur races are available on the T100 Triathlon website.
