Date:

Firefighting operations are underway at the crash site after the aircraft “met with an accident at the Jorhat Air Force Station,” according to ANI.

A Russian-made Indian military transport aircraft crashed on Saturday while landing at an air force station in the remote northeast region of Assam, the military said.

The Indian Air Force stated that an Antonov An-32 “met with an accident” during landing at Jorhat. A court of inquiry has been ordered to determine the cause of the crash, while details on casualties were not immediately released

Images broadcast by news channel NDTV showed the crash site with a thick black plume of smoke, and the aircraft apparently broken into pieces.
