Dubai markets demonstrate strong compliance, with more than 8,400 inspections indicating stable prices.

Date:

Dubai has reviewed 31,500 consumer complaints as part of its ongoing market monitoring drive.

Dubai authorities have reported that essential goods remain widely available and prices are stable, following recent market monitoring efforts by the Dubai Corporation for Consumer Protection and Fair Trade.

The consumer watchdog, part of the emirate’s Department of Economy and Tourism, said inspection teams carried out 8,479 field visits to retail outlets and major distribution centres between March 1 and June 7, as part of ongoing efforts to monitor market conditions and protect consumer rights, according to Emarat Al Youm.

Dubai authorities reported handling 31,504 consumer complaints and reports during the same period, including 641 related to price increases.

Officials said inspections resulted in only three violations linked to unjustified price hikes, reflecting a high level of compliance among most commercial establishments.

Ahmed Ahli, Acting Director of Consumer Protection at the Dubai Corporation for Consumer Protection and Fair Trade, said the figures underscore the intensity of ongoing monitoring efforts to maintain market stability and ensure adherence to pricing and consumer rights regulations.

The inspection campaigns covered a broad range of retail outlets and distribution centres, including fruit and vegetable markets, supermarkets, and hypermarkets across residential and commercial areas.

Dubai authorities have emphasized that pricing transparency is a core principle of the emirate’s market regulation framework, requiring retailers and service providers to clearly display prices across physical stores, digital platforms, and promotional materials.

Ahmed Ahli, Acting Director of Consumer Protection at the Dubai Corporation for Consumer Protection and Fair Trade, stated that the price shown to consumers must match the amount charged at the point of payment, adding that any discrepancy is treated as a regulatory violation.

He also noted that the emirate increasingly relies on digital channels to enhance consumer engagement, with complaints submitted through smart platforms helping regulators detect potential violations and respond more quickly.

Authorities said consumer complaints serve as an important source of market intelligence, enabling inspectors to verify issues and take corrective action when necessary. Consumers are encouraged to retain receipts and proof of purchase to support investigations and facilitate faster resolution of complaints.

Ahmed Ahli reiterated that market conditions across Dubai remain stable and reassuring, with essential goods available in sufficient quantities and prices holding steady.

He added that continued cooperation between regulators and strategic partners, along with intensive inspection campaigns, is helping maintain a transparent, competitive, and reliable marketplace while strengthening consumer confidence.
