Kuwait detains a terrorist cell linked to Hezbollah and confiscates weapons.

Date:

The Ministry of Interior announced the arrest of 14 Kuwaiti citizens and 2 Lebanese nationals for orchestrating a plan aimed at “threatening the country’s sovereignty.”

On Tuesday, March 17, Kuwait revealed that it had dismantled a terrorist cell in the country linked to Hezbollah.

The Ministry of Interior stated that it had arrested 14 citizens and 2 Lebanese nationals who had planned to “undermine the country’s sovereignty, destabilize its stability, spread chaos, and disrupt public order, posing a direct threat to national security and endangering the safety of citizens, residents, and state institutions.”

During the investigations, authorities confiscated several items, including firearms and ammunition, an assassination weapon, encrypted communication devices (Morse), drones, flags and images associated with terrorist organizations, maps, narcotics and cash, as well as weapons used for training purposes.

The authorities stated that investigations are ongoing, with all necessary measures being taken against the group. The arrested individuals will be referred to the Public Prosecution, while security agencies continue efforts to track and apprehend anyone linked to such terrorist organizations.

The ministry warned residents that Kuwait’s security and sovereignty are a red line that cannot be crossed. Any attempt to collaborate with foreign terrorist groups, support or sympathize with them, or provide financial backing at the expense of national security will face strict and decisive action.

It further stressed that no leniency will be shown to anyone found involved in activities that threaten the country’s security and stability.
