Air India Express continues UAE flights through Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and RAK amid Dubai suspension

Date:

Flights to and from Dubai canceled amid airport’s temporary shutdown.

Dubai: Flights operated by Air India Express to and from Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, and Sharjah will continue as scheduled, despite disruptions affecting services to Dubai.

“Air India Express’ ad-hoc operations to and from Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, and Sharjah will proceed as previously announced,” the airline said.

The airline said the decision follows the temporary suspension of all flight operations at Dubai International Airport, which led to the cancellation of Air India and Air India Express services to and from Dubai for the day. Its sister carrier, Air India, has also suspended Dubai operations for the day.

“Dubai International Airport has temporarily suspended all flight operations to and from the airport. Consequently, Air India and Air India Express flights to and from Dubai have been cancelled for the day,” the airline said.

Passengers impacted by the cancellations have been offered flexible options at no additional cost.

Dubai Airports temporarily suspended operations at Dubai International Airport after Emirates announced it expects to operate a “limited schedule after 10 am Dubai local time today (Monday, March 16).” The airline added that, due to this incident, some flights on today’s schedule have been cancelled.

The announcement from Air India Express follows the temporary suspension of flights at DXB as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of passengers and staff.

According to the Dubai Media Office, a drone incident occurred near the airport, affecting one of its fuel tanks.

Dubai Civil Defence teams quickly contained the resulting fire, and no injuries have been reported, the office confirmed.
