The authority added that the system will continue to remain fully operational.

The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority announced on March 9 that the sound of alerts issued through the National Early Warning System will be changed. However, the system will remain fully operational to ensure public safety.
It said on X, formerly Twitter, that between 9am and 10.30pm, the current high-tone alert sound and the standard text message tone marking the end of the alert will be used.
Between 10.30pm and 9am, the standard message tone will be used for both the alert and the end of the alert.
The system has recently been used to notify the public about defence operations across the country in response to Iranian aggression during the ongoing Middle East war.
