UAE denounces drone strike on its Iraq consulate as violation of diplomatic norms.

ABU DHABI: The United Arab Emirates has strongly condemned the unprovoked terrorist drone attack targeting its Consulate General in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, which caused material damage but resulted in no injuries.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) emphasized that attacks on diplomatic missions and premises are a blatant violation of international norms and laws, particularly the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, which guarantees the inviolability of diplomatic premises and the protection of diplomatic personnel. Such acts, MoFA said, represent a dangerous escalation and a threat to regional security and stability.

The United Arab Emirates has called on the Government of the Republic of Iraq and the Government of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq to investigate the circumstances of the attack, identify those responsible, and take all necessary measures to ensure the perpetrators are held accountable.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated the UAE’s firm rejection of attacks aimed at undermining security and stability, emphasizing the importance of protecting diplomatic premises, missions, and personnel in accordance with international laws and norms.
