UN delegation visits UAE field hospital in Gaza

OCHA delegation reviews UAE medical support as humanitarian needs grow in Gaza.

The UAE field hospital in the Gaza Strip welcomed a high-level delegation from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and the Office of the United Nations Resident Coordinator in the Occupied Palestinian Territory during a field visit to assess the medical and humanitarian services it provides.

The delegation reviewed the hospital’s operations and the UAE’s ongoing efforts to support Gaza’s healthcare sector and help ease the suffering of patients and those injured in the conflict.

The delegation included Dr Ramiz Alakbarov, the United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for the Occupied Palestinian Territory; Susanne Tkalec, Deputy Humanitarian Coordinator for the Occupied Palestinian Territory; Taher Ibrahim, Head of OCHA’s Gaza office; along with a Political Affairs Officer and the Director of the Office of the United Nations Resident Coordinator in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

The two sides discussed ways to strengthen coordination and deepen cooperation between the UAE mission and the United Nations to support Gaza’s healthcare sector and bolster the humanitarian response in line with the territory’s growing medical needs.
