UAE unveils its 2050 energy efficiency strategy, introducing 34 national initiatives.

Abu Dhabi: The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) has unveiled a long-term national plan for energy efficiency and demand management running through 2050, aimed at optimizing resource use and supporting sustainable economic growth.

The strategy comprises 34 national initiatives and establishes five technical committees to oversee implementation across key sectors.

A National Team for Energy and Water Demand Management has also been formed, led by the Ministry’s Undersecretary and including 30 representatives from 28 government and sector entities.

As part of the program, the ministry stated that it has fast-tracked 16 initiatives to be implemented over the next five years, focusing on the built environment, transport, industrial, and agricultural sectors.

The plan aims to encourage more efficient energy and water use through coordinated national efforts, while enhancing institutional collaboration and technical governance to achieve long-term sustainability goals.
