UAE set for another hot spell as temperatures hit 48°C with rain possible

Date:

UAE weather: Convective clouds may bring rain showers as dust risks increase.

Dubai: Convective clouds are expected to develop across parts of the UAE today, bringing the possibility of rainfall in eastern, western and some inland areas, while temperatures are forecast to reach as high as 48°C in internal regions, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).

The NCM said skies will be partly cloudy at times, with convective cloud formations likely to spread towards eastern and western areas as well as parts of the interior. Light to moderate south-easterly to north-easterly winds are expected, occasionally becoming stronger and reaching speeds of up to 45 km/h inland and over mountainous areas.

These winds may stir up dust and reduce visibility in areas affected by cloud activity. Sea conditions are expected to remain slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.

Daytime temperatures are expected to range between 43°C and 48°C in inland areas, while coastal areas and islands are forecast to see highs of 37°C to 42°C. Temperatures over the mountains are expected to remain lower, ranging between 31°C and 37°C.

Looking ahead, the NCM forecasts fair to partly cloudy conditions through Sunday, with further potential for convective cloud development and scattered rainfall, particularly over eastern areas during the afternoon.

Winds are expected to remain light to moderate, occasionally strengthening, while sea conditions will continue to be slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.
