UAE road safety campaign focuses on fuel tankers and hazardous materials transport in Abu Dhabi.

Date:

Abu Dhabi Police have launched a “Smart Road Security” initiative aimed at reducing risks in the transport of petroleum products.

Abu Dhabi Police carried out roadside safety inspections targeting heavy truck and fuel tanker drivers in the Al Dhafra region as part of its wider “Smart Road Security” strategy to reduce risks linked to petroleum transport and protect lives and property.

The initiative, led by the Traffic and Security Patrols Department, also includes field awareness sessions for operators of heavy vehicles and diesel tanker transporters.

Focus on hazardous materials

Colonel Saif Mohammed Al Ameri, Director of the Traffic and Security Patrols Department in Al Dhafra, said police are working to strengthen fuel tanker drivers’ compliance with safety and security procedures during transport.

He noted that transporting petroleum materials requires a high level of responsibility due to the serious consequences accidents can cause. He urged drivers to follow speed limits, maintain safe distances, and avoid reckless driving on the roads.

Vehicle inspections and safety standards

During field sessions, officers highlighted the importance of regular vehicle inspections and ensuring loads meet approved safety standards before departure. Colonel Al Ameri said these steps are essential in preventing accidents involving hazardous materials.
