UAE President speaks with Iraqi Prime Minister over the phone

UAE, Iraq urge de-escalation and highlight importance of diplomacy.

ABU DHABI: UAE President His Highness Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received a phone call today from His Excellency Mohammed Shia’ Al Sudani, during which they discussed regional developments and their serious implications for security and stability, as well as the blatant Iranian attacks targeting the United Arab Emirates and several other brotherly countries in the region.

During the call, the Iraqi Prime Minister condemned the treacherous terrorist attack that struck the UAE Consulate General in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq for the second time within a week. He stressed that the attack constitutes a serious violation of international norms and conventions guaranteeing the full protection of diplomatic missions and their premises.

He reaffirmed Iraq’s rejection of any attacks against diplomatic and consular missions within its territory and emphasized the country’s commitment to providing full protection to ensure these missions can continue their work safely, in line with relevant international obligations.

Both leaders highlighted the importance of halting escalation and prioritizing dialogue and diplomatic solutions to address regional issues, aiming to preserve security and peace across the region.
