Couples planning to marry in the UAE can now complete most of the marriage contract application process online through the Ministry of Justice’s electronic marriage contracts platform.
Available through federal Sharia courts across the country, the smart service allows applicants to submit marriage requests, schedule appointments with marriage officiants, pay required fees online and receive a digital copy of the approved marriage contract via email.
The system also enables marriage officiants to complete the entire process digitally through smart devices, removing the need for paper-based documentation and manual procedures.
How to apply for a UAE marriage contract online
Applicants can complete the process through the following steps:
- Visit the Ministry of Justice website
- Open the Electronic Marriage Contracts System
- Sign in using UAE Pass
- Select the relevant marriage contract application type
- Enter details of the bride, groom, contract and witnesses, and upload the required documents
- Submit the application and pay the service fee
Once submitted, the application is reviewed by a marriage officiant, who arranges for the required signatures from all parties involved.
After verification, the application is forwarded to a reviewer before being submitted to a judge for final approval.
Once approved, a digital copy of the marriage contract is sent to both spouses via email.

Eligibility for non-Muslim civil marriage
Applicants seeking a civil marriage must meet the following conditions:
- Both parties must be at least 21 years old
- The marriage must be between a man and a woman
- Both individuals must have the legal capacity to enter into marriage
- The marriage must not be between two sisters
- The wife must not already be married
Fees
The federal fee for submitting a marriage contract application is Dh50.
The Ministry of Justice said the integrated electronic system has been introduced across all federal Sharia courts in the UAE, enabling users to complete the full marriage contract process digitally — from submitting applications and scheduling appointments to paying fees and receiving the approved contract electronically.
