Thundershower to hit parts of UAE next week: NCM

Date:

According to the Met, the country is affected by an extension of surface low pressure system.

It will continue to rain in the UAE until Wednesday of the coming week, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) said in its latest weather update.

“The expected weather from Saturday to Monday will partly cloudy becomes cloudy with a chance of scattered rain starting from Saturday evening over the Arabian sea and islands, extending towards the coasts, northern and eastern regions. Intensifying on Sunday and Monday, with an increase of low and medium clouds accompanied with convective rainy clouds at times, with different intensity of rain, especially northern and eastern parts, accompanied by thunder, lightning and run-off some valleys,” the NCM said in its update.

According to the Met, the country is affected by an extension of surface low pressure system, associated with an upper air trough. The low pressure brings the air to rise and as it cools, water vapor condenses and forms clouds that produce rain. Troughs, which are long areas of low pressure, likewise can lead to rain, wind and other weather events.

“An upper low pressure from north west associated with surface low pressure from the south lead to low to medium cloud formation, with occasional rainy convective clouds over different parts of the country, especially the north and east, accompanied by lightning and thunder with fresh winds at times,” the Met said in its update.

Clouds will decrease from Tuesday next week but there will still be some rain in some parts of the country.

“On Tuesday and Wednesday, clouds gradually decrease with the chance of some rain on the islands and some northern and eastern areas. The wind speed during this period will be moderate and freshening at times with active convective clouds, leading to sea rough, and blowing dust over the land, reducing the horizontal visibility at times,” NCM concluded.”
