Sharjah waives truck toll fees on Oman-bound cargo traffic to support and boost trade flows.

New Sharjah measure reduces truck costs and streamlines cargo movement from Oman.

Sharjah has introduced a new logistics facilitation measure exempting cargo trucks arriving from Oman through key border crossings from toll gate fees, as part of efforts to strengthen supply chains and improve freight movement across the UAE.

The initiative, launched in coordination between the Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority and the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority, forms part of an expanding logistics corridor connecting Sharjah’s ports and border points with Oman.

Under the new measure, trucks transporting goods through the approved logistics corridor and entering via the Khatmat Malaha and Al Madam border crossings will be exempt from toll charges within Sharjah, provided the shipments comply with the initiative’s operational requirements.

Authorities said the move is intended to improve cargo flow, reduce operational costs for logistics and transport companies, and support faster and more efficient movement of goods across the UAE.

The initiative builds on Sharjah’s strategic geographic location and integrated transport infrastructure. Officials also highlighted the importance of the Khatmat Malaha crossing, located about 70 kilometres from Oman’s Sohar Port, which helps speed up shipment movement and reduce transportation times between the two countries.

The border crossing is also linked to a major road network connecting ports, free zones, industrial areas, and commercial hubs across the UAE, strengthening the efficiency of regional supply chains.

Meanwhile, the Al Madam border crossing serves as another key logistics gateway due to its location at the intersection of major transport routes, offering faster and more efficient access to land and maritime networks that support import, export, and re-export operations across the region.

Authorities said the crossing’s connection to Mahdah in Oman’s Al Buraimi Governorate further enhances its role as a strategic logistics hub, especially as development accelerates in the nearby Al Rawdah economic zone.

The UAE’s Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security said the measure reflects a proactive strategy aimed at strengthening operational readiness and ensuring resilient and sustainable supply chains under varying economic and logistical conditions.

The authority said the new initiative reflects the UAE’s approach of turning challenges into opportunities through smart, innovative solutions designed to facilitate trade, improve transport efficiency, and strengthen the country’s regional and global economic competitiveness.

The toll exemption forms part of a broader set of measures under the logistics corridor project, including streamlined customs procedures and faster border clearance processes aimed at reducing transit times and lowering operating costs for freight operators.
