Here’s what’s changing

Listen up Dubai motorists.

A big parking change is coming to one of Dubai’s most popular neighbourhoods that you need to know about.

It has been confirmed that paid parking is on its way to Palm Jumeirah, specifically the Palm Jumeirah crescent.

Encasing the manmade island, parking operator Parkonic announced on its Instagram page that new rates are on their way to the crescent.

In a series of stories, Parkonic stated that the new fare for on-street parking would be priced at Dhs10 per hour (or part thereof) for all motorists.

Drivers will be able to pay either via their Salik account, or by sending an SMS and following the instructions on visible signage along the route.

Stretching to around 11km, the crescent is a popular walking route in Dubai, with the pedestrian boardwalk stretching around the entire crescent.

Parkonic also recently introduced a similar scheme in Dubai’s Discovery Gardens, with resident parking areas now requiring an active parking tenancy.

The new system in Discovery Gardens is designed to better manage shared parking across the neighbourhood, particularly in buildings that don’t have dedicated parking facilities.

Under the updated rules, each eligible residential unit will receive one free parking permit. Residents with more than one vehicle will need to purchase a paid subscription for any additional cars.
