Missed Your Exit? Sharjah Police Warn Drivers Against Sudden Turns

Date:

Sudden Swerving Can Lead to a Dh1,000 Fine and Four Black Points Under UAE Traffic Rules.

Sharjah: Sharjah Police have urged motorists not to make sudden lane changes or sharp turns after missing an exit, warning that such manoeuvres can increase the risk of accidents. Drivers are advised to continue safely along their route and use the next available exit instead.

“Missed your exit? Don’t risk a sudden swerve. Take the next exit and stay in your lane,” the force said in a road-safety advisory, stressing that the precaution helps protect both the driver and other road users.

Police also released a video highlighting the risks of sudden manoeuvres. The footage shows a motorist apparently realising that he has missed an exit and abruptly swerving towards it. The vehicle then hits a kerb that the driver appears not to have noticed, resulting in a crash.

Under UAE traffic regulations, drivers who make sudden swerves can face a Dh1,000 fine and four black points on their driving licence.

The warning is part of ongoing efforts to curb unpredictable driving behaviour that could put motorists and other road users at risk.
