He came across a social media post suggesting he was the lucky winner.

A Missouri man hit a $111,000 lottery jackpot but was oblivious of his winnings until he came across a social media post suggesting he was the lucky winner.

Steven Matherly of Cabool said he bought a ‘Show Me Cash’ ticket from a gas station the draw for which was on February 8. He told Missouri Lottery officials that he left the ticket on his dashboard where it was lying for days, UPI reported.

But he did not ignore the social media post which suggested he could be the lucky winner. “Somebody posted on Facebook that there had been a $111,000 Show Me Cash winner sold at The Gas Station, in our hometown. I told my wife, I think I’ve got that ticket out there on my dash,” Matherly said.

Fortunately, the ticket was still lying on his dashboard. “That ticket had been riding around on my dash all weekend. “I’m surprised it didn’t blow out,” he added. Matherly used the Missouri Lottery’s mobile app to confirm he had hit the $111,000 jackpot.
