Kuwait intercepts 86kg drug smuggling bid in air shipment from the UK

Date:

Three bags containing concealed cannabis, cocaine, and marijuana were discovered.

Kuwait General Administration of Customs said on Wednesday that it had foiled an attempt to smuggle 86 kg of narcotics into the country through an air cargo shipment arriving from the United Kingdom.

Customs officers at the Air Cargo Customs Department intercepted a consignment of personal luggage comprising three bags, which were found to contain large quantities of illegal drugs, the authority said in a statement.

The seizure included approximately 63 kg of cannabis, 9 kg of cocaine, and 14 kg of marijuana, bringing the total confiscated amount to 86 kg.

The operation was carried out under the directives of Sheikh Fahad Yousef Al Sabah and was executed in coordination with the General Directorate for Drug Control.

Customs authorities said legal procedures have been initiated, and the seized narcotics have been handed over to the relevant competent authorities for further action.

The administration said the seizure is part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen customs controls across all entry points and curb attempts to smuggle prohibited substances, with the aim of protecting society and enhancing national security.
