West Indies Cricket Stars Ready to Light Up the Thrilling Abu Dhabi T10 Tournament.
Dubai: Some of the West Indies’ biggest cricket stars are preparing to bring their explosive batting and all-round skills to the Abu Dhabi T10 tournament, scheduled from November 7 to 20, with defending champions UAE Bulls once again led by Kieron Pollard.
The tournament will feature 16 West Indies international players across six franchises at Zayed Cricket Stadium, with every team including at least one Caribbean cricketer.
Four of the six franchise icon players hail from the West Indies, highlighting the region’s strong presence in one of cricket’s fastest and most aggressive formats.
Pollard, Pooran and Russell Headline Caribbean Star Power
Veteran all-rounder Kieron Pollard will captain defending champions UAE Bulls as they look to retain their title.
Jason Holder will represent Yas Lions, while Nicholas Pooran takes charge of Royal Desert Champions.
Hard-hitting batter Rovman Powell will lead Emirates Eagles, with Arabian Aces securing the services of explosive all-rounder Andre Russell.
United Tigers have strengthened their squad by drafting West Indies fast-bowling all-rounder Odean Smith.
With only 60 deliveries available per innings, the T10 format demands immediate aggression and leaves batters little time to establish themselves.
Players capable of hitting boundaries from the opening delivery can significantly influence the outcome of a match, making the Caribbean contingent particularly valuable.
Nicholas Pooran’s Remarkable Abu Dhabi T10 Record
Nicholas Pooran returns to the tournament with an impressive record of success.
The West Indies wicketkeeper-batter played a key role in Deccan Gladiators’ championship-winning campaign in 2022, scoring 345 runs and smashing 31 sixes during the tournament.
He subsequently guided the franchise to another title in 2024, further establishing his reputation as one of the competition’s most influential performers.
Across his Abu Dhabi T10 appearances, Pooran has struck 137 sixes, the highest tally by any player in the tournament’s history.
His aggressive batting style and proven leadership are expected to be major assets for Royal Desert Champions.
UAE Bulls Retain Championship-Winning Core
Defending champions UAE Bulls have maintained a strong Caribbean presence by retaining Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine and Romario Shepherd from their title-winning squad.
The franchise has also added experienced West Indies batter Andre Fletcher, further strengthening its batting options.
Meanwhile, Royal Desert Champions have assembled a powerful Caribbean lineup featuring Nicholas Pooran, Sherfane Rutherford, Brandon King and Keemo Paul.
The combination of experienced international players and aggressive T10 specialists is expected to add excitement to the competition.
Abu Dhabi T10 Opens With Pollard-Holder Showdown
The tournament will begin on November 7, when defending champions UAE Bulls take on Yas Lions at Zayed Cricket Stadium.
The opening fixture will feature an intriguing contest between West Indies stars Kieron Pollard and Jason Holder, setting the stage for an action-packed competition.
With six franchises competing for the title and several of the Caribbean’s most dangerous limited-overs players involved, fans can expect high-scoring encounters, powerful hitting and intense finishes.
The Abu Dhabi T10 final is scheduled for November 20, when the tournament’s new champions will be crowned
