Join UAE’s first hiphop battle this weekend

Date:

The event will hold an open mic session at the indoor skate park.

The first hip-hop battle in the UAE will take place at Al Serkal Avenue in Dubai this Saturday (October 5).

Titled ‘Inna Yard Hip Hop Battle’, the event will hold an open mic session at the indoor skate park, challenging freestyle artists to showcase their creativity and intelligence in adapting to audience suggestions.

“Inna Yard Hip Hop battle is about promoting the artist while also challenging them. Audience interaction is crucial as artists will need to improvise based on their suggestions. I hope this will soon turn to a hip hop exchange hub for networking and collaboration for all nationalities based in UAE,” said Xolisile W. Dolo, founder and organiser of the event.

With the UAE being a melting pot of various cultures, I believe that a common space for all kinds of artists to perform together will bring positivity to the art scene in the country. Our programme has slam poetry, rap, monologues, dance along with other visual arts. Upcoming or growing art professionals can test their audience and also find new collaborations to enhance “artist-hood” and bring out a vibrant hip hop culture in Dubai,” said Dolo.

With no age or any other restrictions to participate, the event is expected to draw a huge number of participants as well as the audience.

“Hip Hop is a global culture with music, dance, poetry and art. As an artist, I grew up performing at sessions at open platforms among the performing arts community. Hip Hop changed my life and I am now dedicating my time to help others through the same cultural concept,” he added.
