Global Village reopens: What’s new, what’s returning, and the best food and rides to explore

Date:

Global Village returns as a familiar joyride the moment you step through its gates.

There are few places in Dubai where you can still enjoy luqaimat under fairy lights and eat Thai noodles from a floating boat — all in one evening, and all without emptying your wallet.

After its temporary closure during the Iran–Israel–US conflict, Global Village is finally open again.

It feels much the same as before: colourful lanes, the scent of shawarma, sugar, and grilled seafood, and the familiar feeling that the world has been packed into one glittering outdoor festival.

For regular visitors, that sense of familiarity may be exactly the point — Global Village returns as the same joyful escape the moment you step through the gates.

The attractions

One of the standout new additions at Global Village this season is Gardens of the World, a sprawling, nature-inspired escape stretching from the Egypt Pavilion to the China Pavilion.

For history enthusiasts, the spotlight also falls on the striking Terracotta Warriors Army installation. Inspired by the famous archaeological discovery in Xi’an, the display features rows of life-sized clay soldiers, each with distinct facial expressions, armour details, and posture — making it one of the season’s most visually impressive new attractions.

Another major highlight is Dragon Kingdom, which delivers a full-scale fantasy experience at Global Village.

Set within the mystical world of Blackstone Hollow, this walk-through attraction takes visitors across 11 themed rooms, where they join a quest to help the last dragon, Ignis, recover his lost power.

With puzzles, hidden clues, and constantly shifting environments, the experience blends mystery, storytelling, and interactive adventure into one immersive journey.

Eat as you walk: Food from Dh25

Luqaimat – Dh35

  • Luqaimat (Dh35) still draws some of the longest queues — golden, crisp, and drenched in date syrup. Even the aroma is enough to pull you in before you’ve made up your mind.
  • Lobster roll (Dh40) offers something more indulgent yet casual — tender lobster chunks tucked into a buttery roll, perfect for eating while you walk.
  • Candied fruit (Dh30) — glossy strawberries and grapes coated in crunchy sugar, an Instagram favourite that tastes just as good as it looks.
  • Shawarma and Tawook (Dh40) — soft, filling, and the classic go-to wrap when hunger strikes hard.
  • Mango sticky rice (Dh25) rounds things off with something soft, sweet, and comforting.

The Floating Market: Always a hotspot

If Global Village has a pulse, it is at the Floating Market — still buzzing with the same energy as before.

  • Chicken stick – Dh5
  • Butterfly shrimp – Dh45
  • Tom Yum – Dh45 to Dh60 (depending on the protein)
  • Pineapple fried rice or Pad Thai – Dh65
  • Mussels (15 pieces) – Dh95
  • Grilled octopus (2 pieces) – Dh30
  • Grilled prawns sticks – Dh25 each

From Dh5 skewers to Dh115 seafood platters, the Floating Market at Global Village proves that great food doesn’t have to come with a huge bill.

The rides: Thrills for all ages

The Carnaval Zone is where Global Village truly comes alive — filled with neon lights, music, and endless games.

Highlights include:

  • Roaming Rome – Dh25 (Dh35 Fast Track): a family favourite with a 1m height requirement
  • Beijing Jungle – Dh27: a trampoline-style bungee ride for thrill-seekers under 1.85m and below 85kg
  • Sydney Kangaroo – Dh25: fun, bouncy, and perfect for children
  • Hook-a-Duck – Dh40: everyone wins a prize, making it a guaranteed hit with kids
  • Roll Up – Dh15 (one ball) / Dh30 (three balls): classic carnival nostalgia at its best

Visitors can also buy a Wonder Pass for Dh5 and load Dh175 to receive 185 points — often the best-value option for those planning multiple rides.

If you’re going solo

You don’t need company to enjoy Global Village — a solo night there remains one of the best-value outings in Dubai.

Food budget

You can enjoy a satisfying food walk at Global Village on a flexible budget depending on what you choose:

  • Light snacks and street bites: around Dh25–Dh50
  • A mix of desserts, wraps, and Floating Market dishes: around Dh60–Dh120
  • Seafood platters and multiple speciality dishes: around Dh150+

Whether you go for quick bites like Luqaimat and Shawarma or splurge on grilled seafood and Thai favourites, there’s something for every budget.

You can comfortably enjoy three to four items — for example, Luqaimat (Dh35), Bubu Fries (Dh39), a Candied fruit skewer (Dh30), and a drink or water (Dh5).

Total food spend

Around Dh100–Dh110 for a full tasting tour.

Rides and games

Pick two or three rides such as Roaming Rome (Dh25) and Hook-a-Duck (Dh40 if you’re feeling lucky).

Total ride spend

Around Dh100.

Other spends

A small souvenir or an extra snack for the road will usually cost around Dh20–Dh30.

Total solo cost

Expect to spend around Dh220–Dh250 for a full evening at Global Village — including food, rides, and a little extra fun. Not bad for a world tour in one night.

If you’re a family of four

Planning a night out with the children is completely doable — and surprisingly affordable — with a little planning.

Entry tickets

  • Weekday tickets: Dh25 each = Dh100 total
  • Weekend tickets: Dh30 each = Dh120 total

Food budget

Families tend to graze, and Global Village is perfect for sharing plates.

  • Luqaimat (Dh35) and Shawarma (Dh40) for snacks
  • Pineapple fried rice (Dh65) or Pad Thai (Dh65) at the Floating Market
  • Desserts like Candied fruit, mochis (Dh30), and Mango sticky rice (Dh25)
  • Drinks or water (Dh10–Dh15 total)

With shared portions, this can comfortably feed four.

Total family food spend

Around Dh180–Dh200.

Rides and games

This is where the Wonder Pass helps most.

Buy one Wonder Pass for Dh5 and load Dh175 to receive 185 points.

That works out to roughly four rides for two people, so for a family of four, plan for around Dh350–Dh400 for rides and games.

Other spends

A couple of small toys or trinkets from the pavilions may add another Dh50–Dh70.

Total family cost

Expect to spend around Dh600–Dh700 for a full evening at Global Village — including food, games, rides, and family fun.

Family savings hacks

  • Bring your own stroller or shopping cart — rentals usually cost Dh15–Dh20 per hour
  • Park in free zones like P1, P3, and P5, or use the free shuttle from overflow parking areas (P7–P11)
  • Share large dishes, as many meals easily serve two people

Smart spending

If planned well, Global Village remains one of the best-value nights out in Dubai.

  • Entry: Dh25–Dh30
  • Food: from Dh5 snacks to Dh65 mains
  • Rides: from Dh15 each
  • Water: Dh1–Dh2
  • Free parking and free live shows

Shopping smart at the pavilions

It’s easy to overspend at the pavilions, where every corner feels colourful and tempting.

At the Kuwait Pavilion, stalls are filled with rings and chunky necklaces, with many pieces priced between Dh50 and Dh100 — enough sparkle without a huge splurge.

At the China Pavilion, visitors will find waving Lucky Cats for around Dh50 each and plush toys for children ranging from Dh70 to Dh150, depending on the stall.

The best strategy is simple: browse first and buy later. Chances are, a better deal is waiting just a few steps away.

The familiar food stalls, carnival rides, and slow-moving crowds under neon lights make the experience feel unchanged — and after weeks of uncertainty during the regional conflict-related closure, that familiarity feels even more special.

You can still feast for under Dh100, enjoy rides for under Dh200, and leave with enough memories — and food cravings — to last until next season.
