Enercap is expanding its advanced battery manufacturing capacity to support growing demand for clean energy solutions.

ABU DHABI: Enercap, a subsidiary of Apex Investment PSC, is showcasing its latest advanced energy storage solutions and technologies at the Make it in the Emirates 2026 platform, highlighting its role in supporting critical infrastructure in the UAE and strengthening the country’s position as a regional and global hub for advanced energy technologies.
Ahmed Amer Omar, Managing Director of Enercap, told the Emirates News Agency (WAM) that the company’s locally developed technologies are already being deployed across several key applications in the UAE.
These include energy storage installations in public spaces in collaboration with government entities, frequency stabilisation services and energy demand management for the national grid, as well as powering autonomous vehicles and vessels used in border monitoring and coastal protection.
He added that these solutions help improve the efficiency and sustainability of national infrastructure by providing reliable, maintenance-free storage systems that support the growing integration of renewable energy into the country’s energy mix.
At the international level, he said grid-scale energy storage facilities are expected to come online in 2026 in both the United Kingdom and Germany, highlighting the increasing global presence of UAE-developed technologies, particularly in European markets that demand advanced technical and regulatory compliance.
He also noted that the company’s systems are designed for an operational lifespan of up to one million charge and discharge cycles without performance degradation. They can operate in extreme temperatures ranging from minus 30°C to 70°C and achieve storage and retrieval efficiency of 99% for direct current and over 95% for alternating current.
On the manufacturing side, he explained that the company’s facility in Dubai Industrial City has an annual production capacity of 12GW, while a new energy storage battery plant is being developed in the Musaffah ICAD 2 area in Abu Dhabi with a capacity of 36GW per year. Together, this will bring total output to 48GW annually.
He added that the ICAD 2 facility will include an integrated ecosystem featuring in-house cell manufacturing, specialised certification laboratories, a training centre, and a centre of excellence focused on developing national talent in power electronics. It will also house a research and development centre described as the largest of its kind in the region.
He said this industrial and technological expansion reflects the company’s commitment to supporting the UAE’s goals of developing advanced national industries, improving the global competitiveness of Emirati products, and strengthening the country’s position as a hub for next-generation energy technologies.
