EDGE opens European headquarters in Paris, strengthening and expanding its defence presence across the continent.

Date:

EDGE Europe will concentrate on government relations, strategic partnerships, and investment initiatives.

Abu Dhabi: EDGE Group has announced the launch of EDGE Europe, a new company headquartered in Paris that will manage the group’s expanding defence and technology operations across Europe.

The Abu Dhabi-based advanced technology and defence company said the move represents the first phase of its long-term expansion strategy in Europe, with operations already established in France through offices in Paris and Bordeaux.

EDGE Europe will focus on developing defence technologies, strengthening partnerships with governments and industry stakeholders, and supporting the delivery of advanced defence capabilities across the region.

The company said its Paris headquarters will handle government relations, partnerships, and investment activities, while its Bordeaux facility will focus on engineering, manufacturing, and the development of advanced systems.

Bordeaux is one of France’s major aerospace and defence hubs, hosting a strong ecosystem of suppliers, universities, and research institutions.

Long-term commitment

Faisal Al Bannai said Europe is entering a new phase in its defence sector, requiring faster and more flexible approaches to capability development.

“Europe stands at an important moment for its defence industry, and EDGE wants to be part of its future,” he said.

“We are here to invest in talent, work with industry partners and help build capabilities on European soil.”

Al Bannai added that selecting Paris as the headquarters for EDGE Europe reflects the strong relationship between the UAE and France, noting that the company aims to build similar partnerships across the continent.

Wide range of capabilities

EDGE said it offers expertise across multiple domains, including autonomous systems, air, naval and land platforms, artificial intelligence, electronic warfare, sensors, communications, and propulsion technologies.

The company added that EDGE Europe will collaborate with established defence firms, technology companies, universities, and research institutions to drive innovation and speed up the development of advanced solutions.

Officials also said the company plans to hire European talent, create high-skilled engineering and industrial jobs, and develop technologies for customers in both European and international markets.

Growing European presence

EDGE’s expansion into Europe builds on a series of existing investments and partnerships across the region.

The group has acquired significant stakes in companies such as Milrem Robotics, Anavia, and Flaris, and is also planning to acquire CMD in Italy.

In addition, EDGE has formed joint ventures with Fincantieri and Indra Sistemas, and established strategic partnerships with Leonardo and Safran.

The company said these collaborations strengthen its integration into European supply chains and enhance its ability to deliver advanced defence capabilities across multiple sectors from the outset.
