Dubai university to switch to distance learning after spring break amid ongoing US–Israel–Iran conflict.

Date:

All teaching and learning at the university will be conducted online from March 23 to April 5.

Dubai: A university in Dubai announced on Friday that it will shift to remote learning after the spring break, becoming one of the first higher education institutions in the country to clarify post-break class arrangements.

Middlesex University Dubai made the announcement via a social media post titled “IMPORTANT UPDATE: ONLINE LEARNING.”

The university stated that all teaching and learning will take place online from Monday, March 23, to Sunday, April 5, as the UAE continues to navigate an ongoing crisis that has already disrupted the academic calendar nationwide.

“Students should continue attending their scheduled classes online and regularly check their student email and the university website for updates,” the university said.

“The safety and wellbeing of our students and staff remain our top priority,” it added.

Online Classes, Early Break
The announcement comes nine days before the spring break ends on Sunday, March 22.

The break for schools and universities was brought forward after the UAE’s Ministry of Education and Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced on March 4 that the holiday would start earlier than planned.

The originally scheduled break from March 16 to 29 was moved up to begin on March 9.

The break applies to all students, as well as academic and administrative staff across public and private schools and universities. Classes and official working hours are set to resume on Monday, March 23, the authorities said.

This decision followed an earlier extension of distance learning nationwide until March 6, as authorities sought to maintain the education process in a safe environment after the outbreak of the conflict.
