Dubai Municipality has now introduced a new initiative aimed at further improving the quality of services offered by salons across the emirate.
The ‘Model Salon’ status goes beyond conventional health and safety requirements, placing greater emphasis on self-monitoring, environmental sustainability and customer satisfaction.
To qualify for the recognition, salons must first secure an ‘A’ inspection rating from Dubai Municipality, the highest rating available.
Once this requirement is met, the establishment will undergo an additional assessment by the relevant authorities to determine whether it meets the criteria for Model Salon status.
The initiative focuses on three main areas: service quality, a safe and healthy environment, and sustainability.
1. Service Quality
Under this category, salons will be assessed on their commitment to delivering professional and reliable services.
This includes providing appropriate staff training, encouraging professional conduct and ensuring employees possess relevant qualifications and certifications.
Salons will also be expected to offer consultations before carrying out treatments or services, helping customers make informed decisions based on their individual needs.
2. Safe and Healthy Environment
Maintaining a hygienic and comfortable setting is another essential requirement for achieving Model Salon status.
Authorities will evaluate cleanliness, equipment sterilisation procedures, indoor air quality and lighting conditions.
The assessment will also consider whether salons provide suitable service facilities and maintain well-organised treatment areas and customer waiting spaces.
These measures are intended to strengthen hygiene practices while improving the overall experience for visitors.
3. Sustainability
