The rider was travelling along the Fujairah–Khorfakkan road yesterday morning when his motorcycle struck a truck that had stopped in a traffic lane near the Fouz area.

An Asian food delivery rider was killed in Fujairah on Friday morning after his motorcycle crashed into a stationary truck. The incident marks the emirate’s fifth road fatality this year.
The rider was travelling along the Fujairah–Khorfakkan road when his motorcycle, operated for a food delivery company, struck a truck stopped in a traffic lane near the Fouz area.
The accident happened at 8.05am on October 30. Police and ambulance teams were dispatched after receiving an emergency call. The rider was taken to Sheikh Khalifa Hospital in Fujairah, while authorities launched an investigation to establish the circumstances and cause of the collision.
Brigadier Saleh Mohammed Abdullah Al Dhanhani, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department at Fujairah Police, warned that stationary trucks and other heavy vehicles can present serious dangers to approaching motorists, particularly on roads with heavy commercial traffic.
Staying alert on the road
Al Dhanhani emphasised the need for motorists to remain aware of road conditions, slow down when approaching stationary vehicles and leave enough distance to stop safely if unexpected obstacles appear.
He also warned against using mobile phones while driving and making abrupt lane changes, noting that even a momentary distraction can affect reaction times and increase the risk of serious accidents.
The latest fatal incident comes after another deadly accident earlier this month involving a 24-year-old Indian expatriate who was hit by an SUV while riding an electric scooter in Fujairah.
Police investigations found that the scooter rider had attempted to cross the road at an unauthorised location. The case was later referred to the public prosecution.
Fujairah Police have previously organised targeted road-safety awareness programmes for food delivery riders in partnership with Fujairah Municipality. The initiatives focused on traffic rules, safe riding practices and the consequences of violating road regulations.
The campaigns have highlighted risks such as speeding, dangerous overtaking, sudden manoeuvres and distractions while riding, particularly on roads shared with heavy vehicles.
Earlier this year, Fujairah Police also launched a traffic awareness drive to protect vulnerable road users, including motorcyclists, and reduce the likelihood of serious accidents.
The campaign encouraged riders to wear protective helmets, follow traffic regulations and practise defensive riding to improve safety on the roads.
In addition to awareness efforts, police have intensified traffic monitoring and enforcement measures targeting unsafe motorcycle riding to promote compliance with road rules.
Authorities have urged motorists and delivery riders to stay vigilant and adjust their driving to changing road conditions, especially near trucks, intersections and stationary vehicles.
Investigations into Friday’s fatal collision are ongoing.
