Coronavirus: We’re in it together, affirm UAE leaders

12 new cases of Covid-19 reported; Global Village, museums, historical sites closed.

The UAE is prepared to face the coronavirus challenge and the country’s resources have been made available to ensure public health and safety, the country’s top leadership has assured.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, met His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Sunday and discussed the country’s preparation in the fight against coronavirus.

On Sunday, UAE confirmed 12 new cases of Covid-19 raising the total number of cases in the country to 98. All patients are undergoing treatment and are stable. The ministry also announced recovery of 3 more infected people taking the total recoveries to 26.

The UAE has enforced new measures to curb the spread of coronavirus by closing down entertainment centres, parks, cinemas and fitness centres across the country.

The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority announced the closure of museums, historical sites and public libraries till the end of the month. Dubai’s Global Village announced the early closure of its 2019-2020 season. The Burj Khalifa’s observatory and lounge At The Top, The Dubai Mall’s Aquarium & Underwater Zoo, Dubai Opera, Dubai Ice Rink and VR Park Dubai are also closed till March 31.
