The country’s top court issued a short order today.
Pakistan PM Imran Khan said that today’s Supreme Court order in the Army chief’s extension case was a ‘great disappointment’ for mafias within and external enemies.
Khan took to Twitter shortly after the verdict was announced by the country’s top court. The three-member bench decided to extend Army chief Bajwa’s tenure by six months. He was set to retire on November 29. The Pakistan PM said that the order must be a great disappointment for mafias and enemies who were expecting a clash of institutions.
Khan also lauded Chief Justice Khosa as one of the ‘greatest jurists’ of Pakistan, adding a reminder that he had fought for an idependent judiciary all his political life and was even jailed for it.
