Dubai junction upgrade to ease rush-hour traffic: RTA

Date:

The project will cost about Dh450 million.

A new contract to upgrade the Falcon Junction has been awarded by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) on Saturday.

The project, bordered by Al Khaleej, Khaled bin Al Waleed and Al Ghubaiba streets, will cost about Dh450 million. Upon completion, it will be linked to Shindagha Bridge (Infinity) northwards.

“The Falcon Junction Improvement Project is part of Al Shindagha Roads Corridor Improvement Project undertaken over five phases extending 13km along the Sheikh Rashid, Al Mina, Al Khaleej and Cairo Streets. Upgrading the Falcon Junction will ensure free traffic movement across Al Shindagha Corridor (Al Khaleej and Al Mina Streets) and steps up the intake of both streets,” said Mattar Mohammed Al Tayer, director-general and chairman of the board of executive directors of the RTA.

“The project is being implemented as per the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to improve Al Shindagha Roads Corridor to cope with the sustained urbanisation of the locality,” he added.
