UAE Ministry Confirms Unusual Odours in Sharjah, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain Pose No Health Threat.

UAE: Authorities have temporarily shut down all beaches and coastal areas in Umm Al Quwain following an oil spill from a tanker, the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment has announced.
The spill was identified through the UAE’s environmental monitoring and assessment system, triggering an immediate response to contain the contamination and minimise damage to the marine ecosystem.
Emergency response teams, in coordination with federal and local authorities, have launched containment and cleanup operations to prevent the oil from spreading further.
The ministry confirmed that coastal inspections, environmental monitoring and impact assessments are ongoing to evaluate the situation and determine the necessary measures to safeguard marine life.
Beaches and coastal areas will remain closed until technical teams complete their evaluations and confirm that appropriate safety and environmental protection measures are in place.
Meanwhile, the ministry reassured residents that the unusual odours reported across Sharjah, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain do not pose any health risks.
Fishermen and other maritime users have been advised to comply with official guidelines and refrain from fishing or carrying out activities in affected waters until further notice.
Authorities have also urged the public to obtain information only from verified official channels and avoid circulating unconfirmed reports. Further updates will be shared as cleanup efforts and environmental assessments progress.
