Village to Offer Education and Training Opportunities to Support Dignified, Empowered Lives.
Dubai: Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, has announced plans to establish the second Rashid Village, with the new humanitarian initiative set to be developed in Zanzibar.
Sheikh Hamdan revealed the project in a post on his Instagram account on Saturday, marking the 11th anniversary of the passing of the late Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The Rashid Village in Zanzibar will offer education and training opportunities aimed at equipping beneficiaries with the skills needed to build more secure futures and lead dignified lives.
The Zanzibar project represents the latest expansion of Rashid Villages, a humanitarian initiative launched by Sheikh Hamdan in September 2025 to honour and preserve the humanitarian legacy of his late brother. The initiative aims to develop integrated model communities offering families access to housing, education, healthcare, social services and economic opportunities.
The first Rashid Village was announced in Kenya last year, marking the beginning of the initiative’s international expansion. Planned across 7.2 hectares, the Kenya development was designed to feature furnished homes, educational facilities, healthcare services and community amenities, alongside opportunities to support sustainable livelihoods. The project was expected to benefit around 1,700 people.
