UAE sees surge in document attestations, with 1.45 million filings recorded

Abu Dhabi: More than 1.45 million requests to attest commercial invoices and certificates of origin were submitted through the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ electronic document attestation system during the first five months of 2026, according to ministry data.

The eDAS system processed 1,453,333 requests between January and May, comprising 775,633 commercial invoice attestations and 677,700 certificates of origin.

February recorded the highest monthly demand for both types of digital attestations, with 214,376 commercial invoice requests and 190,853 certificate-of-origin requests processed through the eDAS system.

For commercial invoices, eDAS processed 193,725 requests in January, followed by 130,629 in March, 117,730 in April and 119,173 in May.

For certificates of origin, the monthly figures stood at 169,007 in January, 113,670 in March, 101,496 in April and 102,674 in May.

The ministry’s eDAS 2.0 service provides digital attestation for commercial invoices and certificates of origin issued either in the UAE or overseas. The service is available 24/7, with applications typically completed within two minutes and a fee of Dh150 per document.

Separate ministry figures showed that the Smart Mission service received 2,766 attestation requests during the first half of 2026.

February recorded the highest monthly volume at 600 requests, followed by January with 582 and June with 471. April recorded 405, March 368 and May 340 requests.

Smart Mission enables customers to complete document attestation procedures digitally as part of the consular services provided through UAE diplomatic missions abroad.
