Emirates passengers receive hotel stays and new flights after EK225 lands in London.
Dubai: An Emirates flight travelling from Dubai to San Francisco was diverted to London Heathrow Airport after a passenger experienced a medical emergency during the journey.
The airline confirmed that flight EK225, which operated on July 29, was diverted to Heathrow Airport to allow the passenger to receive urgent medical care.
Following the unexpected diversion, passengers were unable to complete their journey to San Francisco on the same day and had to make alternative arrangements.
Emirates said passengers affected by the diversion were provided with hotel accommodation in London and rebooked on the next available flights departing on July 30.
In a statement, the airline said: “Emirates flight EK225 from Dubai to San Francisco on July 29 was diverted to London Heathrow due to a passenger medical emergency.”
The carrier added that affected passengers were given hotel accommodation and alternative flight arrangements for the following day.
Emirates apologised to customers for the disruption, reiterating that passenger and crew safety remains its highest priority.
Medical emergencies are one of the most common reasons flights are diverted, allowing passengers who need urgent care to receive timely medical attention.
In this case, the diversion led to an overnight delay for the other passengers, who continued their journey on alternative flights the following day.
