Samsung Galaxy Watch9 vs Watch Ultra2: UAE prices, features and launch details compared

Date:

Samsung introduces the Galaxy Watch9 and Watch Ultra2, bringing upgraded AI-powered health features, brighter displays and improved battery performance. Here’s everything you need to know about the new smartwatches.

Samsung unveiled two new smartwatches at Galaxy Unpacked in London, with each model targeting a different type of user.

The Galaxy Watch9 is the more lightweight, everyday smartwatch, built for monitoring sleep, workouts, recovery and heart health. The Galaxy Watch Ultra2, on the other hand, is designed as a tougher, adventure-focused device for trail runners, divers and users who require extended battery life.

Available in 40mm and 44mm sizes, the Galaxy Watch9 keeps Samsung’s signature round display design and aluminium build. The smartwatch features a screen brightness of up to 3,000 nits, while battery capacities have been upgraded to 390mAh for the smaller model and 445mAh for the 44mm variant.

Both versions are powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon Wear Elite platform and come with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.

Samsung’s latest health features include Vitals, which monitors major changes from a user’s usual overnight health readings, and Heart Health Score, which converts cardiovascular data into a simple daily measurement. The watches also offer Daily Cardio Load to help users manage training and recovery, along with Fitness Index for tracking overall fitness levels. They can also alert users when surrounding noise levels may become harmful. Samsung noted that feature availability can differ by market and that these tools are designed to support wellness, not replace professional medical advice.

The 47mm Galaxy Watch Ultra2 delivers a more rugged design with a titanium body, an 800mAh battery and a display brightness of up to 5,000 nits. Despite its larger battery, Samsung says the watch is 12 per cent thinner than the previous Ultra model. New capabilities include Trail Run tracking, hydration guidance based on estimated sweat loss, and automatic diving measurements such as depth, duration and water temperature. The device carries 10ATM, IP69K and EN13319 certifications.

In the UAE, the official prices for the Galaxy Watch9 start at Dh1,449 for the 40mm model and Dh1,564 for the 44mm version. LTE variants are priced at Dh1,649 and Dh1,759, respectively, while the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 costs Dh2,669. Pre-orders are now available, with general sales beginning on August 7.

The Watch9 is available in Cream, Graphite and Silver, depending on the size, while the Watch Ultra2 comes in Titanium Silver and Titanium Gray.
