Widespread ChatGPT outage affects users across the UAE, United States, Europe and Asia.
Users across the UAE and around the world have reported significant connectivity issues with ChatGPT, prompting OpenAI to confirm that it is investigating a widespread service disruption affecting the web platform, mobile apps, and developer APIs.
The outage began within the past 30 minutes and has affected a broad range of users, including regular users, subscribers, and developers dependent on OpenAI’s API services.
Global outage affects millions of users
According to outage-monitoring platform DownDetector, the disruption has impacted users across several regions worldwide, including the United States, Europe, India, Japan, Australia and the UAE.
OpenAI has confirmed the service disruption through its official status page, noting that it is investigating the issue affecting the listed services.
Surge in user complaints reported across regions
User complaints have risen sharply over the past hour, with outage reports in the UAE reaching a peak at around 1:25pm. According to DownDetector, 68% of reported issues were linked to core ChatGPT functions, while 18% involved the app and 9% affected API services and Codex features.
Meanwhile, in India, outage complaints have exceeded 1,000 reports and continue to increase rapidly. DownDetector data shows that around 78% of users are experiencing issues with general ChatGPT functionality, while 9% are reporting mobile app-related problems and 7% are facing API connectivity issues.
Pattern of recent outages
The latest global disruption comes just weeks after another temporary outage, during which ChatGPT remained accessible for basic text-based requests but experienced failures with image generation and Codex execution. While OpenAI has confirmed that it is investigating the issue, the company has not yet provided a timeline for full service recovery. Normal operations are expected to resume once the necessary server fixes are implemented.
