Voice calling services hit as du network outage affects Dubai and Abu Dhabi

Du races to restore services as UAE call outage sparks complaints.

Dubai: Telecom operator du experienced a widespread service disruption on Wednesday morning, leaving customers across Dubai and Abu Dhabi unable to make voice calls.

The outage began at around 7am UAE time, according to Downdetector, which tracks telecom service disruptions worldwide. The platform recorded a sharp rise in user reports, with 71% of complaints related to voice calls, 14% citing mobile signal issues and 8% reporting problems with mobile internet connectivity.

Du’s mobile app was also affected, displaying a message informing users that its technical team was working to resolve the issue and thanking them for their patience.

Despite the disruption, not all services were impacted. SMS messaging continued to function normally, while customers were still able to access mobile internet and use social media apps. Botim, du’s internet calling service, also remained operational, providing users with an alternative way to make calls.

As of Wednesday morning, du had not issued an official statement explaining the cause of the outage or providing a timeline for the full restoration of services. The companyhas contacted the telecom operator for comment and will update this report as more information becomes available.
