International visitors flying to Abu Dhabi with Etihad will automatically receive complimentary medical travel insurance for travel between July and December 2026.

All international visitors flying to Abu Dhabi with Etihad will automatically receive complimentary medical travel insurance for stays of up to 15 days, with no application required.
The national carrier announced the initiative on Friday in partnership with the Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT Abu Dhabi) and The National Insurance Company – Daman. Valid from July to December 2026, the policy covers eligible visitors during their stay in the UAE for up to 15 days.
No formal application is required, as coverage is automatically provided with every qualifying Etihad ticket. Any guest flying to Abu Dhabi on an Etihad-operated service—where both the point of origin and point of sale are outside the UAE—is eligible. Travellers using Etihad’s complimentary Stopover Programme to spend time in Abu Dhabi are also covered for the duration of their stay.
The initiative, Etihad said, gives visitors “one less thing to think about and one more reason to book,” reflecting continued strong demand for Abu Dhabi as a bucket-list destination.
Visitor experience
The partnership highlights a shared commitment by Etihad Airways and the Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT) Abu Dhabi to prioritise the visitor experience and eliminate administrative burdens for travellers.
Etihad Airways CEO Antonoaldo Neves said the airline aims to make both travel to Abu Dhabi and the stay itself as seamless as possible. He noted that providing comprehensive medical insurance with every eligible ticket allows guests to focus fully on experiencing the emirate’s hospitality, adding that it reflects how airlines and destinations can jointly invest in visitors.
Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, Director General for Tourism at DCT Abu Dhabi, said global interest in the emirate continues to grow and the initiative helps meet that demand with an enhanced end-to-end visitor experience. He added that the partnership sets a new benchmark for destination standards and ensures guests feel welcomed, valued, and cared for from the moment they book.
Khaled Ateeq Aldhaheri, CEO of The National Insurance Company – Daman, said the initiative aligns with the insurer’s focus on health and wellbeing. He added that integrating medical insurance into the travel journey adds meaningful value for visitors and is supported by access to one of the UAE’s most comprehensive medical provider networks.
