Motorists face strict penalties for performing stunts or recording dangerous driving manoeuvres on public roads.

Dubai: A viral video showing a young woman driving on a public road while her passenger sat precariously on the vehicle’s door to take photographs has prompted Dubai Police to issue a strong warning against reckless and life-threatening behaviour on the roads.
Police said the incident placed both occupants at serious risk and endangered other motorists, describing it as a clear violation of traffic safety regulations and part of a growing trend of individuals engaging in dangerous acts to create social media content.
Dubai Police stressed that such behaviour demonstrates a disregard for road safety and can result in devastating consequences within moments, putting the lives of those involved and other road users at risk.
Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, said the incident highlights the serious dangers posed by reckless behaviour on the roads, noting that sudden braking, loss of balance or unexpected vehicle movements could easily lead to severe injuries or even fatalities.
He stressed that public roads are not intended for stunts, photo shoots or content creation, warning that sitting outside a moving vehicle or extending any part of the body beyond its confines dramatically increases the risk of serious or fatal injuries, particularly at high speeds or in the event of a collision.
“Such actions not only endanger those involved but also pose a significant threat to other road users,” he said, urging motorists and passengers alike to prioritise safety and comply with traffic regulations at all times.
Following the circulation of the video, Dubai Police said specialised traffic teams quickly identified and summoned the driver. The vehicle was subsequently impounded, and the motorist was cited for driving in a manner that endangers the life, safety or security of others.
The violation carries a penalty of a Dh2,000 fine, 23 black points on the driver’s licence and the impoundment of the vehicle for 60 days.
Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan stressed that Dubai Police has zero tolerance for such reckless behaviour, emphasising that traffic laws are designed to protect lives, safeguard road users and promote responsible driving practices.
He urged motorists to avoid dangerous acts aimed at attracting attention on social media, warning that a moment of negligence can have serious and potentially irreversible consequences.
He urged motorists and passengers to remain properly seated inside their vehicles, wear seatbelts at all times, avoid extending any part of their bodies outside moving vehicles and refrain from distractions such as filming, performing stunts or taking part in dangerous road challenges.
“Seconds of stunting can turn into a tragedy that may change lives forever,” Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan warned.
He added that genuine awareness is not measured by social media views or online attention, but by respect for human life, responsible behaviour and adherence to traffic laws designed to keep all road users safe.
