UAE Ministry of Higher Education accelerates AI-powered digital transformation to simplify student and university services.

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) is stepping up efforts to drive digital transformation across the UAE’s higher education sector, introducing measures aimed at simplifying services for students and universities while boosting efficiency through data and artificial intelligence.

The ministry said its digital transformation programme seeks to enhance the student experience and improve services for higher education institutions by streamlining procedures and creating a more integrated, user-friendly ecosystem.

As part of the initiative, MoHESR plans to reduce its electronic services from 38 to 18 streamlined digital offerings. The consolidation is intended to simplify processes and deliver a smoother user experience through a unified platform built around two core customer journeys — one for students and the other for higher education institutions.

Four strategic pillars

According to the ministry, the transformation strategy is centred on four key pillars: increasing operational efficiency through automation, delivering proactive and personalised services, ensuring digital accessibility for all users, and expanding the adoption of artificial intelligence across services and internal operations.

Amani Al Bannai said the digital transformation initiative is helping build a more efficient, agile and user-centric higher education ecosystem.

“Digital transformation within the higher education sector presents an opportunity to deliver a more seamless experience for students, higher education institutions and stakeholders,” she said.

Al Bannai added that the ministry is focused on developing an integrated digital ecosystem that harnesses data and artificial intelligence to support decision-making and enhance the quality of services.

AI-powered services

Artificial intelligence is becoming an increasingly important component of the ministry’s transformation agenda. MoHESR said AI is already being deployed across a range of functions, including intelligent chatbots that handle routine enquiries, data analytics, case categorisation, service delivery monitoring and the generation of technical recommendations.

According to the ministry, these AI-driven tools are helping improve operational efficiency, accelerate response times and deliver a more seamless experience for users.

Several digital initiatives are set to be rolled out this year, including an enhanced version of Edu Hub, the ministry’s higher education admissions and registration platform.

Other planned projects include expanding qualification recognition systems, launching new digital services for scholarships and student support, and introducing blockchain-powered solutions to verify academic credentials.

MoHESR is also deepening digital integration with government entities, including the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, as well as local and international partners involved in academic credential verification.

The ministry said these initiatives will enhance data accuracy, shorten processing times and contribute to a more connected and efficient digital ecosystem.

Officials said the overarching objective of the transformation programme is to simplify customer journeys, enhance transparency and reinforce the UAE’s position as a global leader in data- and AI-driven digital government services.
