Date:

The congress will bring together states, youth, and civil society for high-level discussions on justice.

ABU DHABI: Abdullah Sultan bin Awad Al Nuaimi affirmed the readiness of the United Arab Emirates to host the 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice in Abu Dhabi this September.

In a speech delivered at the current session of the United Nations Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, Al Nuaimi urged member states to continue supporting efforts to adopt the “Abu Dhabi Declaration” at the opening of the Congress. He also called for active participation in the “Pledge for Justice” and encouraged countries to announce concrete commitments aimed at strengthening the effectiveness of the international criminal justice system.

He highlighted the expected scale of international participation in the Congress, which will include more than 250 side events and 35 specialised exhibitions. He said this reflects the event’s pivotal role as a global platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and strengthening international cooperation in crime prevention and criminal justice.

The Minister of Justice noted that the Congress is the world’s largest specialised forum dedicated to justice issues, offering a strategic opportunity to enhance global collaboration in addressing contemporary and emerging challenges, particularly environmental crime and the responsible use of artificial intelligence.

He said the Congress will feature a series of high-level thematic discussions on key global challenges, including drug trafficking, offender treatment and rehabilitation, access to justice, efforts to combat money laundering, and the prevention of violence against children.

Al Nuaimi emphasized that the UAE has adopted an inclusive, collaborative approach to organizing the event, bringing together governments, the private sector, civil society, and youth.

In this context, he praised the Justice Generation Initiative and the Youth Forum scheduled ahead of the Congress, reaffirming the UAE’s readiness to welcome delegations from around the world to Abu Dhabi next September.
