The pact is designed to simplify and hasten the processing of labour-related claims, including benefits and blood money.

Dubai: Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in the UAE and their families are expected to benefit from faster processing of financial claims following a new agreement between the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Migrant Workers Office (MWO).
Signed on June 5 to coincide with Migrant Workers Day 2026, the memorandum of agreement (MOA) establishes a formal system for managing financial claims and benefits owed to OFWs.
According to the Philippine Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), the agreement creates a clear mechanism for the efficient transfer, administration, and processing of financial entitlements, including blood money, end-of-service benefits, and other labour-related claims.
The pact is expected to strengthen coordination between the two offices and reduce delays in resolving long-standing claims.
More efficient process: In addition, the new mechanism clearly defines the roles of both the embassy and the MWO in handling claims, helping ensure that documents, funds, and case records are managed more efficiently.
The initiative is expected to benefit workers and families awaiting compensation or settlements by reducing administrative bottlenecks and improving case monitoring.
Protecting OFW welfare
According to Labour Attaché Ma. Teresa Olgado, the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to safeguarding the rights and welfare of Filipinos working overseas.
“On Migrant Workers Day, we honour not only the hard work and sacrifices of our OFWs, but also reaffirm our duty to ensure that every Filipino worker and their family receive the protection, assistance, and justice they deserve,” Olgado said.

The partnership also highlights ongoing efforts to strengthen support services for OFWs and ensure that workers and their families receive their entitled benefits and assistance without unnecessary delays.
“Through the MOA, the MWO Abu Dhabi and the Philippine Embassy will enhance coordination to deliver faster, more organised, and more compassionate assistance to OFWs,” the DMW said.
The UAE hosts one of the largest Filipino communities abroad, with OFWs working across various sectors throughout the Emirates.
