UAE Set for Intense Summer Conditions as June 2026 Begins

Historic June Weather in the UAE Marked by Intense Heat, Winds and Dust.

Dubai: Temperatures across the UAE are expected to remain near seasonal norms throughout June, with the national average temperature forecast at 34.6°C, according to the National Centre of Meteorology.

In its latest monthly climate outlook, the NCM said rainfall is likely to stay below historical averages during the month, with total nationwide precipitation expected to reach just 2.8mm, reflecting the typically dry conditions that prevail across the country at the start of summer.

Relative humidity levels are expected to ease slightly compared with May, with maximum humidity forecast to average around 70 per cent, according to the National Centre of Meteorology.

The decrease in humidity is expected to reduce the chances of fog and mist formation across the country, resulting in generally clearer weather conditions during June.

The National Centre of Meteorology said the UAE will remain under the influence of south-easterly winds during the morning hours, with winds gradually shifting to north-westerly during the day due to land and sea breeze patterns.

On some days, stronger north-westerly winds are expected to develop, potentially leading to blowing dust and reduced visibility in open and exposed areas.

The forecast comes as the country transitions into the summer season, with meteorologists expecting predominantly hot and dry conditions to prevail across much of the UAE throughout June.

The National Centre of Meteorology also highlighted several notable weather records from its historical climate archive, offering insight into some of the UAE’s most extreme June conditions.

The highest temperature ever recorded in the country during June was 52°C, measured in Al Yasat in 2010. In contrast, the lowest June temperature on record was 14.1°C, registered in Raknah in 2004.

June 2007 witnessed the highest rainfall total ever recorded for the month, with 44mm of rain falling in Wutayyid. The year 2021, meanwhile, recorded the greatest number of fog events during June, including 12 days of dense fog and six days of light fog.

Dust and wind events have also featured prominently in the UAE’s climate history. In June 2008, Zayed International Airport recorded dust events on 10 separate occasions, while the strongest wind speed ever observed during the month reached 125.2km/h at Jebel Mebrah in 2010.

The NCM also noted that the highest daily solar radiation level recorded in June reached 10,588 watts per square metre in Dubai in 2019. By comparison, the lowest level was recorded in Umm Ghafah in 2007, when solar radiation dropped to 2,134 watts per square metre.

The outlook indicates that June will largely follow typical seasonal patterns, with residents expected to experience periods of high temperatures, dusty conditions and limited rainfall as summer gradually intensifies across the UAE.

While temperatures are forecast to remain close to long-term averages, occasional strong winds may raise dust and reduce visibility in some areas, reinforcing the hot and predominantly dry conditions that characterise the season.
