How the UAE established a humanitarian lifeline for Gaza that goes beyond emergency relief efforts.

Date:

From field hospitals to food assistance, the UAE expands long-term support for civilians in Gaza.

The UAE’s humanitarian support for the Gaza Strip is seen as a model of direct intervention delivered through a structured and organized relief framework. It treats the crisis as an ongoing humanitarian emergency requiring swift and sustained action, with a strong focus on easing civilian suffering, without political considerations or secondary agendas.

According to a report by MTV Lebanon, Gaza today represents a severe test that is reshaping the meaning of effective response in the face of catastrophe. In this context, the report highlighted Operation “Chivalrous Knight 3” (Gallant Knight 3), describing it as a response that goes beyond immediate relief efforts.

Following the outbreak of war in Gaza after October 7, 2023, and the resulting large-scale humanitarian crisis, the UAE launched Operation “Gallant Knight 3.” The initiative has since developed into a sustained support mechanism that extends beyond emergency relief, addressing growing humanitarian needs in a highly complex environment, including food security, water supply, medical care, and assistance for displaced populations.

Sustained response
The report noted that the UAE’s approach reflects a shift from conventional relief operations to a sustained humanitarian response, where aid becomes part of daily life and helps prevent the gradual collapse of living conditions in the enclave.

It added that UAE assistance has evolved from emergency interventions into a comprehensive daily support system covering essential aspects of life. This includes backing bakery operations to ensure a steady supply of bread, along with the regular provision of food, water, and other critical supplies needed to maintain a basic level of food security.

The report further highlighted efforts to support displaced families through shelter assistance and direct aid, helping to ease pressure on communities facing a severe decline in essential services and a rapidly deteriorating living environment. As a result, daily humanitarian action has become an integral part of crisis management rather than merely a reactive measure.

Direct and continuous medical intervention
In the healthcare sector, the UAE Field Hospital has emerged as one of the key instruments of direct response inside Gaza. It has treated large numbers of critically injured patients and others requiring urgent care, providing emergency medical and surgical services under extremely challenging conditions marked by limited resources and severe strain on the healthcare system.

Patients requiring specialized treatment have also been transferred to hospitals in the UAE for further care, reflecting a higher level of direct medical intervention within an already heavily strained healthcare system.

This medical presence represents a shift from humanitarian relief toward direct therapeutic intervention, at a time when Gaza’s healthcare system continues to face a sharp decline in operational capacity.

Integrated food support system
Meanwhile, the report noted that field data indicates the delivery of tens of thousands of food parcels across Gaza, reaching large numbers of civilians. Support for bakeries has also continued, enabling the daily production of bread to meet the essential needs of many households.

Assistance has included tents, shelter materials, infant formula, medical supplies, and dates, reflecting both the scale and diversity of the UAE’s response despite complex logistical constraints, disrupted supply chains, and restricted access to basic necessities.

The report concluded that the humanitarian presence is no longer limited to occasional aid shipments. Instead, it has developed into a daily operational system aimed at easing humanitarian pressures on residents. Essential supplies are being delivered regularly, while shelter support has expanded to assist thousands of displaced families in an effort to prevent further deterioration of living conditions and avoid a total humanitarian collapse.
