Central Board of Secondary Education extends Class 12 answer copy request deadline again due to portal issues.

The Central Board of Secondary Education has extended the deadline for students to request scanned copies of their evaluated answer sheets for the Class 12 Board Examinations 2026.

The decision follows an earlier circular issued on May 22, 2026, aimed at providing candidates with additional time to submit their applications.

According to the latest update, the original deadline of May 24 has been extended to midnight on May 25, 2026. Students have been advised to submit their applications within the revised timeframe, while all other terms and conditions remain unchanged, the Central Board of Secondary Education said.

Deadline extended for students

  • Original deadline: May 24, 2026
  • Revised deadline: May 25, 2026 (midnight)
  • The extension is intended to provide students with additional time amid ongoing technical disruptions.

The Central Board of Secondary Education also stated that the schedule for re-evaluation requests will be announced shortly. The board added that the portal will remain open for at least two days after the final scanned answer sheet is made available.

Technical glitches affect online process

The issue surfaced after CBSE introduced an on-screen marking and post-result processing system, with several students reporting that payments were deducted even though their applications were not successfully completed.

In response, Dharmendra Pradhan directed experts from Indian Institute of Technology Madras and Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur to assist the Central Board of Secondary Education in resolving the portal issues and ensuring the system functions smoothly.

Refunds and corrective measures

The Central Board of Secondary Education has confirmed that refunds will be processed for affected students. Excess amounts paid will be returned through the original payment method, while students who underpaid will be contacted separately regarding the remaining balance.

The board also clarified that scanned copies of evaluated answer sheets will be issued in all cases without requiring students to submit fresh applications.

  • Refunds for excess payments will be credited to the original payment method
  • Students who paid less will be informed separately to complete the balance payment
  • Scanned answer sheets will be provided without fresh applications

Wider review underway

Earlier, Dharmendra Pradhan also held discussions with Nirmala Sitharaman. Public sector banks, including State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, and Indian Bank, have been brought in to strengthen the payment gateway infrastructure.

The ministry has sought a detailed report on the technical glitches, including server downtime and operational shortcomings, as scrutiny of the process continues to intensify.
